ChannelVision Recognizes Inteliquent for Efforts to Detect and Defeat Robocalls
Chicago, IL — Inteliquent, a leading provider of cloud communications platform solutions for voice, messaging, and emergency services, has been named CSP Infrastructure Innovator of the Year in ChannelVision’s 2021 Visionary Spotlight Awards. Inteliquent was recognized for its work in fraud prevention, addressing the rising number of robocalls by deploying STIR/SHAKEN protocols atop other fraud prevention techniques.
Robocalls continue to be a significant source of fraudulent behavior in the U.S., with an estimated 45.9 billion robocalls occurring in 2020. Solutions like STIR/SHAKEN protect consumers from robocalls by validating and providing a caller’s identity before a call is answered.
Inteliquent has partnered with Neustar to provide trust-enabling information allowing correct caller validation to service providers, ensuring their customer experience is positive. Fraud prevention tools include randomization of two-digit numbers, ANI managment to identify and block abusive originating numbers and proactive blocking to ensure added protection for outbound long distance calls.
“We’re honored to receive such an esteemed award for our efforts to reduce fraud by unscrupulous individuals in an effort to scam customers,” said Nick Reifschneider, vice president of communication service provider products. “We believe it’s our responsibility to address the epidemic of phone fraud, and I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made so far.”
Through multiple systems, Inteliquent’s team identifies potential robocall activity based on statistics such as average call duration, answer seizure ratio, and call count carrier/consumer reports. The Inteliquent team has spent the past year and a half applying groundbreaking technological enhancements to its independent infrastructure to make illegal robocalls more difficult to complete. Ultimately, the company hopes their vigilant efforts will make business calling both safer and more secure.
“We want to make things better for everyone — except the scammers,” Reifschneider continued. “70% of people no longer answer their phones unless they can identify the caller in advance. It’s become a considerable problem, and we want to provide the solution to rebuild customer trust, so they can be confident they’re receiving calls from a known caller.”
